Dr. Travis Hackney
Travis Hackney, DDS, was born in Seattle, Washington and was raised in the Shelton/Olympia area. He joined his father's dental practice in 2005 and is excited to be a part of the Shelton community.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. Travis was then fortunate enough to attend one of the best dental schools in the nation, the University of Washington. He received excellent training from a world class institution and is looking forward to expanding his knowledge from his mentor-Dr. Bob Hackney.
Travis desires to treat all of his patients as if he was caring for his own family. He hopes that all patients understand their treatment and feel comfortable in the Hackney office. Having recently completed his education he is up to date on the latest dental therapies and can provide patients with the most advanced treatment options. Travis continues to improve his skills by attending some of the best continuing education courses and study clubs around the country.
Experience is an asset in any profession. Travis is very fortunate to have the 42 years his father has under his belt as a resource. Dr. Bob Hackney will continue to provide clinical guidance to the Hackney practice and his patients can continue to feel reassured with his expertise and experience being passed on to his son, Travis.
Travis and his wife Katie, have a one year old boy named Owen. Owen is the best thing that has happened to the Hackney’s and they have treasured having him in their lives. Owen also loves his chocolate lab, Dakota, and is a very busy little boy.
Dr. Kyle Hackney
Dr. Kyle grew up in the Olympia/Shelton area as the youngest son of Dr. Bob and Alice Hackney. Following in the footsteps of his older brother Travis, Kyle began his college education at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. He graduated in 2004 with a major in Biology and was accepted into the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Kyle was thrilled to attend UW as it offers one of the best dental programs in the United States, and Seattle is also the hometown of one of his best friends, his 90 year-old grandma Helen.
During his four years studying at the UW, Kyle spent 2 ½ year serving a diverse group of patients in the school's dental clinics. In June of 2008, Dr. Kyle was one of 53 students who graduated from the UW with a degree in Dentistry. He has since completed the Western National Board certification exam and earned his Washington State Licensure.
Kyle currently lives with his longtime girlfriend Kelly; they met while studying at Willamette and continued to date as she completed her doctorate degree in Pharmacy at the UW. Kelly is currently completing a one-year residency program in Clinical Pharmacy at Tacoma General Hospital. Kyle and Kelly recently added a third member to their household: A golden retriever puppy name Jackson.
Dr. Kyle is excited to be joining the Hackney Family Dental practice and working in Shelton. He is especially happy to be back in the South Sound area, where he can spend more time with his family, especially his favorite nephew Owen. Kyle will also be spending one day a month volunteering his dental skills at the Mason Community Dental Clinic.
Dr. Bob Hackney
Bob Hackney, DDS, was born in Kennewick, Washington and has lived from Spokane to Seattle.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Washington State University at Pullman. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree at Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in Maryland -- the same school 'Doc' Holliday attended.
From the beginning of his dental career Dr. Hackney desired to continually stay on top of the rapidly changing advances in dental care. He has continued to be active for the past 20 years through continuing education study clubs, studying under some of the finest 'grand masters' in dentistry today.
As a result of his expertise and experience Dr. Hackney has taught at the University of Washington Dental School. He is currently a member of the Thurston Mason Dental Society and the American Dental Association.
He is joined in his dental practice by his wife, Alice. They are the proud parents of two sons, Travis, and Kyle.
